Disadvantages of Diabetic Diets

Posted by admin in Medical Hub, University of Health

Diets are often associated with certain restrictions. Diabetic diets require restricted intake of sugar and calories first of all. When we talk about disadvantages of diabetic diets we think about both physical and mental discomfort they may cause.

Physical discomfort is connected with the situation when you can’t eat as much as you used to and you are now not allowed to eat some specific type of food at all. Don’t worry, you get used to your new food ‘habits’ as time goes by.

Mental discomfort is connected with realization that you are ill now. You feel uncomfortable and a sort of handicapped. May be it’s a bit strong word but the feeling could be that strong too. Sometimes diabetic diets can even intensify these feelings.

Some diabetics complain that they can’t do shopping as usually and that they spend more time and energy to find proper products for their diet.
Well, it all seams like nothing more than caprices. Correctly chosen diabetic diet can’t have any serious disadvantages. It’s nonsense. These diets help control blood sugar level and weight and have normal way of life. Thanks to diabetic diets you will feel like all the rest of healthy people who have no idea what diabetes is and will never guess that you have it.
